ND Senate Kills Bill Targeting Irresponsible Oil Company Leaders

(Bismarck, ND)  --  A bill targeting irresponsible oil company leaders is being rejected by the North Dakota Senate.  The state Senate killed the bill yesterday that would have let the state hold any corporate officer considered responsible for oil- and gas-related violations accountable.  State Mineral Resources Director Lynn Helms requested the bill after recent environmental issues in the oil patch.  The state ended up paying over a million dollars for clean up after company leaders involved refused to fix issues or abandoned the sites.
