(West Fargo, ND) -- The West Fargo Public Library’s summer reading program – Summer Boost – is back beginning June 1st.
The redesigned program combines the library’s popular summer reading program with new objectives and opportunities for all ages.
As part of the program, participants can join the Summer Boost online challenge to track their event attendance and reading hours to earn prizes. The Summer Boost online challenge registration opens Monday, May 24th, and the challenges run June 1st through July 31st.
“Summer Boost moves the summer program past reading,” said Adult Services Manager Kirsten Henagin. “This program uses a lot of hands-on, interactive opportunities and incorporates the Little Red Reading Bus.”
In addition to the Summer Boost reading and activity challenges, the library has planned dozens of programs and events for all ages to take part in. Summer Boost activities for children will improve reading, incorporate play and provide materials for use at home. In addition to traveling the community in the Little Red Reading Bus, the library will also take part in many community events throughout the summer with West Fargo Events and the West Fargo Park District. The library will bring pop-up libraries, games, and other play activities for the whole family at the events. Patrons do not need to be signed up for the online challenge to participate in library events or visit the Little Red Reading Bus.
Summer Boost also has opportunities for teens and adults to keep their brains active and engage with the community while fostering skills, interests and hobbies. Activities for adults will have a DIY focus and provide an opportunity to try new things, like gardening and small-scale woodworking. Teen events will provide an outlet to express creativity and build crafting and maker skills. Adults and teens are also invited to track their reading and participation hours in Beanstack to earn prizes.
