Tips on Moving in Extreme Heat

(Fargo, ND) -- Temperatures here in the Fargo-Moorhead area are set to rise this week, so what are some things you can do to make things as easy and painless as possible during one of the most frustrating things we have to endure in our lives?

"Hire professional movers," says Two Men and a Truck Fargo Franchisee and GM Josh Hutchins. "We do this all the time, we train all our guys in heat illness and protection, and have the tools to keep everyone safe."

Josh does know, however, that not everyone either wants to hire movers, or can. So, he's giving a few tips for those who love to do-it-themselves. They include:

  • When packing, be sure to keep things that will melt (like candles) or items that are pressurized (like hairspray) in their own box that you can transport in your air conditioned car

  • Try to move early in the day or late in the evening to avoid the hottest and sunniest part of the day

  • Don’t forget about your new home's AC ahead of time.

"Just make sure you keep yourself safe and hydrated," says Hutchins. "The back of the truck can get up to 30 degrees hotter than outside, so definitely plan for that."

He adds that prices and truck sizes vary from person to person, so you can call Two Men and a Truck at (701) 297-2264 to figure out just how much it could cost to get that moving burden off of you, and on to professionals.
