West Fargo School Resource Officers win 2020 National Model Agency Award

(West Fargo, ND) -- A truly special honor for a truly special group of individuals.

The West Fargo Police Department's School Resource Officer Program has been awarded the National Association of School Resource Officers 2020 Model Agency Award. This comes down the the nominated group that makes the best, lasting and positive impact in the schools where they serve.

"Really an incredible testament to the dedication of our school resource officers who not only interact with our community, but our youth and schools every single day," said West Fargo Police Chief Dennis Otterness.

The award is giving nationally, meaning that West Fargo PD's program topped every other nominated Department in the entire country.

"We evaluate every our officers every single year, and every year one of the comments we get is they are an integral part of our team," said West Fargo School Safety & Security Coordinator Heather Leas. "If they're not here, we don't know how our team would operate. I think that really says it all."

The importance of the School Resource Officers in West Fargo is continuing to grow, as the new Horace High School joins the district this upcoming school year as well.
