Cass Deputy Arrested for DUI

(Fargo, ND) -- The Cass County Sheriff's Office says one of their own deputies has been arrested for DUI. The Sheriff's Office says in a press release that around 6:00pm Monday, Sheriff Jesse Jahner was notified by the Fargo Police Department that they had responded to a crash at the Custom Express Car Wash in South Fargo.  Through their investigation, the driver of the vehicle was identified as Cass County Deputy Jacob Danielson.  During the investigation it was learned that his two children were present during the crash and no injuries were reported. Danielson was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) of alcohol with a minor present. Danielson began his employment with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office in May of 2020 and his current assignment is a licensed correctional deputy in the Cass County Jail.  An internal investigation within the Cass County Sheriff’s Office will take place and Danielson will be placed on administrative leave. Jahner said “In order to maintain the trust of the citizens we serve, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office will strive to be accountable and transparent in these types of situations.  Although we realize that police officers can make mistakes, they are not above the law and need to maintain a high level of professionalism at all times and be held accountable when necessary.  I want to thank the Fargo Police Department for investigating this incident and performing their duties in a professional manner.”
