NDSU reports another instance of hate-speech on campus

(Fargo, ND) -- Another hate speech incident has occurred at North Dakota State University.

The college has confirmed to WDAY Radio that over the weekend derogatory graffiti was sprayed on the sidewalk outside Niskanen Hall. Officials say the graffiti included a swastika and another message that was not legible.

The full statement from the University to WDAY Radio reads:

"Over the weekend, a report of derogatory graffiti was submitted. The image of a swastika and another unclear image were observed on the sidewalk outside Niskanen Hall. The graffiti is being removed and an investigation is underway. 

The NDSU community values diversity and inclusion. We take collective responsibility for ensuring a sense of belonging, respect and justice that supports the success of each person.  We are committed to providing a safe and non-discriminatory learning, living and working environment for every member of our university community. 

NDSU is committed to the protection and exercise of the freedom of speech for all, and must remain content neutral in decisions related to the expression of ideas on campus."

Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management Laura Oster-Aaland says the incident is under investigation, and that reports may be filed online or by contacting the Equal Opportunity and Title IX Compliance Office at ndsu [dot] eoaaatndsu [dot] edu, (701) 231-7708, or Old Main 201.
