(Fargo, ND) -- North Dakota State University employees have been told they have to get a Covid vaccine.

The school will implement its second phase of complying with a federal mandate that says the employees of federal contractors must be vaccinated by January 4th. President Dean Bresciani says NDSU has more than $33 million in federal contracts, as well as federal buildings on campus and not obeying the mandate could put those funds at risk. The mandate does not apply to students unless they also work for NDSU.

The federal mandate includes religious and medical exemptions but those employees will have to take other mitigation efforts, including weekly testing, masking and social distancing.
