Update: Victims identified, cause of fire south of Fargo remains under investigation

(Fargo, ND) -- Cass County authorities, with the assistance of the State Fire Marshall’s Office, have concluded their initial investigation into the residential fire at 12390 University Drive South. 

Authorities have determined with the extent of damage sustained to the structure, at this point in the investigation it is difficult to determine the exact cause or the exact location where the fire originated.     

During the initial response, authorities were unable to ascertain who was inside the residence when the fire started. It has since been determined that two occupants, Dr. David Lotzer and Nona Koslofsky, were inside and were able to escape prior to the structure becoming fully engulfed. Lotzer sustained non-life threatening injuries during the incident and has since been released from the hospital.

The fire does still remain under investigation.
