House total loss, minor injuries after fire south of Moorhead

(Moorhead, MN) -- Two residents have suffered minor injuries after a major house fire just south of Moorhead Wednesday morning.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office says the blaze broke out a little before 8 a.m. in the 4400 block of Highway 52, just South of Village Green Golf Course.

Deputies say two residents inside the home had to jump from a second story window to escape the fire as smoke bellowed out from the building. Crews have ruled that the house is a complete loss from the blaze. Multiple pets were also inside at the time, and did not survive.

A cause for the fire remains under investigation.
