(Moorhead, MN) --A Moorhead resident who is a pilot and teacher wants the city's airport to be renamed after the first woman to receive a pilot's license in North Dakota in the early 1900s.

"This story happened 90 years ago.  We forgot about Florence but it's time to remember her again.  It's time to reclaim her and I think the best way to do that is by changing the name of our airport to honor her," said Marissa Bengtson-Loerzel.  She wants to rename the airport to "Moorhead Municipal Airport - Florence Klingensmith Field".

Bengston-Loerzel pitched the idea to the city council, which is expected to vote on the proposal in February.  She is a teacher who learned about Klingensmith while reading the best-selling book "Fly Girls".  Bengston-Loerzel says she is inspired by Klingensmith's life and accomplishments and shares the aviator's story with her students in order to inspire them as well.
