Moorhead Police investigating shooting

Moorhead – Moorhead Police are investigating a Christmas Day shooting. It happened in the 3000 block of 20th St. S. around 5am.  Police responded to a report of a disturbance with a gun. Officers were able to identify a crime scene at an apartment complex. They found a spent shell casing and other evidence but no firearm. 

Police say the victim sustained minor injuries that were consistent with an assault prior to the shooting. The victim did not need medical attention. 

Police say the victim and suspect know each other and it was not a random event. Police are still investigating. They say there is no ongoing threat to public safety at this time.
