(Moorhead, MN) -- A man is in custody after a shooting in Moorhead late Monday evening.

The Moorhead Police Department says they received several 911 calls around 11 p.m. to reports of gun shots from a residence in the 1200 block of 2nd Avenue South, near the Main Avenue Dollar Tree.

An adult male now identified as 22-year-old Leon Norman was called out of the home and was detained for questioning. A female and several children were inside when the shooting occurred, and were later allowed to stay due to the weather and logistical challenges to relocate them.

A firearm and spent shot shells were recovered from the scene, but there were no injuries reported. Moorhead Police did add that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

Norman is being held at the Clay County Jail pending formal charges of reckless discharge of a firearm.
