(Fargo, ND) -- Minor injuries were reported after a fire in North Fargo Tuesday evening.

The Fargo Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 302 30th Avenue North around 9:30 p.m. While en route, updated information indicated that an occupant had a cooking oil fire and was not sure the fire was out but had exited because of the smoke.

The first arriving crew found one occupant with burns on their hands, smoke in the apartment, and some small spots still burning. While that crew made sure the fire did not continue to grow, another company was assigned to begin patient treatment with Sanford Ambulance. That occupant was transported to the hospital by Sanford Ambulance.

There was not much fire so it was extinguished quickly but a second occupant began having breathing difficulty during this time. Fargo Fire Department started patient treatment with that person until care was transferred to a second Sanford Ambulance, which then transported that patient as well.

The incident prompted the Fargo Fire Department to issue some quick Facts for when a fire occurs while cooking:

  1.  Do not move the pan
  2. Turn off the heat
  3. Cover with a lid
  4. Do not use water on a cooking oil or grease fire
  5. Call 9-1-1

A damage estimate is not available at this time. The cause of the fire is under investigation but is thought to be accidental.
