(Fargo, ND) -- Another scam has surfaced in the FM Metro, and it involves one of Fargo's most important departments.

The Fargo Police Department has received reports that residents are receiving calls from individuals claiming to represent the Fargo PD seeking cash payments and/or gift cards to offset outstanding federal warrants and missed court dates.

"This is a scam," said FPD on a statement posted to its Facebook page. "If you are ever in doubt about the legitimacy of calls like these, you are encouraged to contact the Fargo PD’s non-emergency line to verify any calls you receive from a member of the department."

The non-emergency line for Fargo Police is (701) 235-4493.
