Fargo City Commission considering how to move forward with needed repairs on 32nd Avenue

(Fargo, ND) -- The Fargo City Commission is looking to make a decision regarding needed repair work on 32nd Avenue.

"It certainly does need to get fixed and redone there is no doubt about that. One of the things they came to us with was making 32nd Avenue more walk-able," said Commissioner Tony Gehrig.

Gehrig talked about the busy roadway with Jay Thomas on WDAY Radio.  The City of Fargo initially estimated the cost of the project at $11.7 million. However, three bids placed for the project all exceed $16 million. The highest tops out at $19 million. The paving at 32nd Avenue and 25th street is more than 30 years old.  The city's engineering department is recommending the council reject current bids and re-open bidding in October.
