Arrest made in South Fargo fire

(Fargo, ND) -- A man is in custody after a fire in South Fargo Thursday morning.

Both Fargo Police and Fire responded to a basement blaze at 4:45 a.m. in the 100 block 12th street south for reports of a fire in a bathroom in the basement.

Fargo Police has confirmed one person, now identified as Michael Gil, was arrested on drug charges when they arrived on scene. Authorities say Gil refused to open the door when they arrived, which led to crews breaching the door. The fire had been extinguished prior to the Fire Departments entry into the unit.

Gil is being charged for endangering by fire and possession of meth paraphernalia.

Damage is estimated to be less than $100, and no injuries were reported.
