Moorhead Police Department: One in seven drivers have a DWI on record

(Moorhead, MN) -- The Moorhead Police Department is reminding everyone to be a sober driver.

The message comes from the MPD's (Moorhead Police Department) Facebook page, which you can find here. The MPD is sharing information and resources regarding Drug and Alcohol Fact Week. 

According to a study published by the state, one in seven Minnesota drivers have a DWI on record - half of which will offend again.

The MPD also cite a surge in overdoses within Moorhead. There were 55 recorded non-fatal overdoses in 2021, with 8 additional overdoses being deadly. Compared to 2020 numbers, there were 13 non-fatal overdoses, with 8 additional deadly overdoses. That is a more than 300-percent jump in non-fatal overdose cases in a single year.
