(East Grand Forks, MN) -- East Grand Forks police are preparing to test a new, less forceful restraint device.
BolaWrap shoots out a nearly eight-foot kevlar cord that wraps around a person needing to be restrained. Police say the device is a way for police to deescalate situations that don't need a forceful response.
The department received an over 21-hundred dollar grant from ONEOK to purchase the devices.
They haven't been used in the field yet, but were also tested by law enforcement in the Fargo-Moorhead area too.
