(Moorhead, MN) -- Moorhead will be hosting community focused conversations to discuss the possible community center.

With the community center's future resting on a ballot measure in the upcoming November elections, the city is looking to host conversations to see what the public wants within the building. Two open forum discussions are scheduled, on April 5th and April 19th at Moorhead Center Mall from 4-7pm. Moorhead Mayor Shelly Carlson says the center will be a cultural focus for decades to come.

"This is a legacy project," said Carlson," It would be a cultural anchor and an economic anchor for the city of Moorhead. If all these things come together and the stars all align, it would be incredible for our community."

Currently, the project would include The Community Center and Moorhead's Library within the same building. Carlson says she has a vision for what the center could possibly look like. "An area, on the community center side, a two level playground area for kiddos. Outside maybe has a splash-pad. And then the library is on the other side... This is just my own vision, almost 45,000 other people in Moorhead have their own vision."

As it stands, The Community Center will likely be built somewhere near the Moorhead Center Mall. An exact location has not been specified at this time.
