(Fargo, ND) -- Initial reports of shots fire in South Fargo Friday morning have turned out to be untrue.

The Fargo Police Department says at 7:51 a.m, officers responded to the report of gun shots fired in the 3500 block of 28th St. S. in Fargo. The individual who filed the report claiming gun shots were fired ended up being the same individual who activated the building’s fire alarm system. The Fargo Fire Department also then arrived on scene and assisted the FPD with clearing the building.

After fully investigating the situation, Fargo Police determined that reports were erroneous in nature. The individual who filed the report was experiencing a mental health-related issue.

Authorities from the North Dakota Parole and Probation took the individual into their custody for further evaluation, and there is no danger to the public.
