(Fargo, ND) -- The Fargo Police Department is detailing what types of crimes and incidents you can report to their new online reporting system.

FPD says incidents which do not have immediate acts of physical violence are asked to be filed through The Citizen Online Reporting System. Examples of those crimes include damage to motor vehicle, garage burglary (no forced entry), gas drive-off, graffiti/vandalism, harassing phone call, illegal dumping, lost identity documents, shoplifting, telephone harassment, thefts and vehicle break-in.

If the crime is not listed above, or is one which is actively taking place, Fargo Police encourage you to dial 9-1-1 or to dial the non-emergency number at 701-235-4493.

Anyone can submit a police report for free, but will require the filer to submit contact information, such as an email or phone number.

You can click here to submit to learn more and to submit an online police report. Fargo Police are issuing a reminder, saying filing a false police report is a crime.
