(Fargo, ND) -- After a near 15 year career in the Fargo Public School District, one of the new candidates for the Fargo Park Board in this June's election says he's ready for a 'sort or' new challenge.

Jim Frueh, who served as the Fargo Public Schools Director of Maintenance and Operations, says his work with the parks district for a number years made the decision to run for the office that much easier.

"I want to make sure the Park District has a smart, sustainable plan for the foreseeable future," said Frueh while speaking with WDAY Midday. "Making sure there is a master facilities plan will be very important. We know these parking lots, roofs and heating systems won't last forever."

Frueh also says he hopes to help see current projects like the South Fargo Sports Complex and Island Park revitalization through to the finish line as well.

"I feel like I have a strong skill set when it comes to the work I would be doing with parks," said Frueh. "My experience building things like schools would pay off I think."

Frueh also noted that handicap accessibility on playgrounds would be another project he'd like to take on if elected.
