(Fisher, MN) -- East Grand Forks students and Minnesota National Guard soldiers are gathered in Fisher to fight the rising waters of the Red Lake River.

A football-field length sandbag line helped shore up defenses against the rising water Monday in the town of just over 500 residents. The river was at over 42 feet Monday afternoon, up by 17 feet since Friday afternoon.

About 120 people worked the sandbag line Monday morning.
