(Fargo, ND) -- A Moorhead woman who was shot along with her infant son at a Fargo restaurant last week may not survive her injuries.

A GoFundMe page says Lucia Garcia suffered “significant brain damage” and didn’t have a pulse for approximately 15 minutes.  Family members say doctors aren’t giving them much hope for her recovery.

"Unfortunately and very sadly, Lucia’s CT scans showed swelling to her brain caused by the lack of oxygen in her brain during the times her heart stopped," said the family in an update to Lucia and her son Dominique's GoFundMe page. "She has significant brain damage due to lack of oxygen to her brain when she lost so much blood and didn’t have a pulse for approximately 15 minutes."

Garcia’s 7-month-old son, Dominique, who was shot in the leg and hand, is expected to fully recover.

The shooting happened at Plaza Azteca. The shooter, 24-year-old Malik Gill, shot and killed himself south of Hawley following a police pursuit. You can find more on the initial story by clicking here.
