(Fargo, ND) -- A Fargo School Board member is set to leave her seat, but has a different vision in mind for the June 2022 elections.

Jennifer Benson told WDAY Midday that her intention is to join the race for Fargo City Commission this year.

"We need to come together as a group, being every department in the city from parks, to even the school board, to make thing more clear for everyone when it comes to spending," said Benson. "Property rates, policing and community support are key for this position, and I will advocate for that."

Benson, who has been on the Fargo School Board since 2014, joins a crowded race for two open commission seats that includes incumbent Deputy Mayor Dave Piepkorn, former North Dakota House representative Al Carlson and 12 other opponents.
