(Grand Forks, ND) -- Republican Senator Ray Holmberg is set to resign Wednesday.

Holmberg is stepping down after 46 years in the state legislature. His resignation comes following controversy over more than 70 text messages he exchanged last year with a man jailed for child pornography.

Holmberg's actions are under investigation.
