(Moorhead, MN) -- Standing in front of Third Drip Coffee in west Moorhead, Mayor Shelly Carlson announced her intention to run for reelection in the coming November election.

"Today I am pleased to announce that I am running for Moorhead Mayor," Carlson said to a dozen supporters along Main Avenue in Moorhead, "Together, with Moorhead citizens, we have all celebrated many accomplishments while I've been in office."

Mayor Carlson is placing her focus on three main areas, economic development, public safety, and infrastructure. She says those priorities will complete "legacy" projects like the 20-21st avenue reconstruction, a proposed 11th street underpass, and the Moorhead Community Center and Library. Mayor Carlson says focus on these projects will bring additional prosperity to the city.

"I feel the last 15 months have prepared me to lead Moorhead for the next four years. It's on a really good trajectory and I want to continue doing that."
