(West Fargo, ND) -- As the primary election inches closer, one West Fargo School Board member running for re-election is reflecting on his years at the helm, but still hoping for more.

Current board member Jon Erickson says the past eight years have been a joy, but that he wants to continue to serve in hopes to help completely guide the school district through the pandemic, while also shepherding it through the seemingly constant growth seen year after year.

Teacher retention is also key for Erickson, who says in the full interview above that involving strategies to boost educator morale, be it through competitive pay or a continued improvement on work conditions, will help to keep the men and women who guide children and teach them in a positive state moving forward.

Like many of the candidates running for the board, Erickson also says communication can always be better within the district. He says parent involvement and knowledge of what's taking place can be improved, be it posting full board meetings on the district's website, and a continued push for parents and stakeholders to ask questions and get responses back.
