(Fargo, ND) -- A home is left uninhabitable following an early morning house fire on Saturday.

At 5:53 a.m, Fargo Firefighters were dispatched to a duplex home located at 4834 51st Street South and found a home engulfed in flames, with large jets of fire pouring from its roof and deck. Residents of both sides of the duplex were home at the time of the fire, and evacuated the building because a bystander warned them of the blaze. Firefighters entered the building and rescued a kitten and gerbils.

Crews extinguished the blaze in approximately 15 minutes. The homeowners are working with The Red Cross to access temporary shelter. A damage estimate of the duplex is unavailable at this time, and an investigation is underway.
