(Fargo, ND) -- A Fargo man is in critical condition after crashing his motorcycle early Sunday morning.

The North Dakota State Highway Patrol say 30-year-old Luke Phillip Schmitz was driving his motorcycle west bound near the 2600 block of 5th avenue south when he drove off the roadway, hit the curb and fell off. He came to rest on Fiechtner Drive.

Schmitz was taken by ambulance to Sanford Hospital, and suffered serious injuries. He was not wearing a helmet.

It is unclear at this time if alcohol or drugs was a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
