(Fargo, ND) -- Several road closures and projects are set to get underway and continue in the FM Metro beginning Monday.

West Fargo

- Beginning Monday, contractor crews will conduct asphalt patching on 12th Street E. north of 4th Avenue E. The road will be closed or reduced to a single lane intermittently through Tuesday, June 28. Signed detours and traffic control will be in place. This work is part of a rehabilitation project to repair nine aging sanitary sewer lift stations north of 13th Avenue.

- The second phase of a new north-south bikeway route from 13th Avenue E. to Main Avenue E. is moving closer to completion. This phase will complete an 8- to 10-foot wide bike path from 7th Avenue E. to Main Avenue E.

Beginning Wednesday, June 29th, the intersection at 1st Avenue E. and 4thStreet E. will close for approximately two weeks to remove existing pavement, install storm sewers and pour concrete speed tables. Residents in this area will have access to their homes, but sidewalks will close and there will be no thru traffic. Signed detours will be in place at 3rd Street E and 5th Street E.

An additional closure at 4th Avenue E. and 4th Street E. should also begin Thursday, June 30, and signed detours will be in place. Project closures and updates will be available at westfargostreets.com.

The first phase of the project from 13th Avenue E. to 7th Avenue E. was completed in 2021. The route mostly follows Drain 45 or 4th Street E. and provides better connectivity of trails for many uses, like traveling through Service Club Park. This is part of the City of West Fargo’s vision of to become a healthy community with engaging parks, public spaces, and facilities. This will help provide a range of amenities and experiences throughout a safe, inviting and connected system.

Both phases of the project are receiving funds through a North Dakota Department of Transportation grant that targets projects that benefit a community by improving existing transportation systems with alternatives to driving that improve safety. The remaining costs are coming from the City of West Fargo’s capital improvement sales tax fund. There are no special assessments for this project.

Fargo

- Beginning Monday, 5th Ave. S will be closed to through traffic between 7th St. S. and 8th St. S. Crews will be working on private underground utilities. The closure is expected to be in place for up to one week.
