(Rothsay, MN) -- A new wheat variety is named in honor of a small Minnesota town.
The University of Minnesota College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences announced earlier this month that the name of the hard red spring wheat variety would be MN-Rothsay. The university's plant breeders have a long history of honoring small towns in the Minnesota wheat belt.
The region around the town is at the heart of northern wheat country.
