(Fargo, ND) -- Sanford Health is hosting a pair of sports physical clinics to make sure young athletes are fit and ready to play ahead of the upcoming sports season.

The sports physical clinics are taking place on Tuesday, July 12th and Thursday, July 14th from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Clinic at 1720 South University Drive. Parking will be available in the new parking lot on the east side of the building along 11th Street South. In addition to sports physicals, needed immunizations are also available to everyone at the clinics.

The sports physical clinics are for student-athletes in college, high school and younger. Parental permission is needed for anyone under the age of 18. Sanford Health says there is a $50 prepay cost for the sports physical, and immunizations will go through insurance. No appointments are needed, however if you want to schedule a sports physical on a different day, you're asked to call (701) 417-6000.

Sports physicals give a doctor a chance to look at health issues that could arise during game time. Sanford doctors will check your athlete’s basic health, look for cardiovascular and lung problems, evaluate old injuries and answer any health care questions.

Sports physicals also provides an educational opportunity for both student-athletes and parents. Sanford doctors will tell you how to recognize signs of concussion symptoms and other sports injuries, recommend stretching routines and offer tips for healthy eating.
