"It's time for a change": Moorhead School board candidate shares concerns regarding state and federal funding

(Moorhead, MN) -- Focusing on economic issues and education independence, one Moorhead School Board candidate is looking to reflect and refine "community standards."

Moorhead School Board Candidate Ken Lucier is teaming up with two other school board candidates, Nikki Pollock and Lisa Hahn, in an election bid. Lucier voiced his opposition to state and federal funding with "strings attached", saying the money provided does not represent what Moorhead residents believe. 

"We want to make sure that the money that's spent in our school district, whether it's our local tax revenue or not, reflects the desires of the people that live in this district." said Lucier "We want to reflect the community standards we have here, not the standards that we have in Washington D.C."

Lucier says nearly 90% of the money the school district receives comes from state or federal funds. He says the funds come with strings attached, and comes with ideas he describes as "indoctrination."

"We see the trajectory being 'oh, if we give your this amount of money you have to teach CRT and race stuff, or you have to teach about gender... whatever your gender wants to be' and you have to do things like that."
