(Cass County, ND) -- Cass County is one of many in North Dakota recognizing Trucker Appreciation Week.

The F-M Transportation Club, North Dakota Motorcarriers Association, and the North Dakota Department of Transportation offered truckers headed east on I-94 Monday a free lunch.

Sandwiches, chips, cookies, and water were handed out by volunteers.

Officials say 44 businesses came together to raise 45-hundred dollars for the meals. The North Dakota Highway Patrol staffed the station.

The American Trucking Association says there was a shortage of 80-thousand drivers last year alone.
