(Fargo, ND) -- A volunteer with the Red Cross in Fargo is down in South Florida helping with relief and recovery following Hurricane Ian.

"We have found some neighborhoods in Sarasota that still don't have their power back on after a week and so they really do need some food and they need drinking water," said Fergus Falls resident Patty Lindholm.

Lindholm arrived in Orlando Friday, after driving an emergency response vehicle from Fargo. She and another volunteer are now making a daily round trip between Orlando and Sarasota, delivering food and water to people in Sarasota neighborhoods.  In that location, some people are still without power, though damage is relatively minor, compared to the harder hit areas around Fort Meyers.

Lindholm says she expects to return to Fargo sometime after the October 11th.

She is a first year volunteer for the Red Cross, and says this is the most significant emergency response she's been involved with.
