(Fargo, ND) -- The Cass County Sheriff's Department is celebrating the deployment of new K9 Officer Griggs.

"I'm lucky because I've got a dog that definitely got the energy and the focus and he's just, he's been awesome to work with so far and we're going to keep going and our best," said veteran Deputy Jake Murray.

Murray is the handler for Grigg's. Murray and the German Shepard recently completed their training together at the Northern Iowa K9 School and have been deployed on the streets of Cass County since late August. Griggs is now the department's second K9 officer in the ranks. The dog will be used for narcotics detection, tracking missing persons, and apprehending suspects.

Sheriff Jesse Jahner says a donation from the Internet and communications firm MLGC helped make the dog's deployment possible.
