(Moorhead, MN) -- A local college is celebrating a record-breaking fundraiser.

Concordia College tells WDAY Radio that it had a record-breaking year during its Giving Day this past Thursday, November 17th.

The goal, according to the college, was to raise $500,000. Through about 1,400 donors, more than $550,000 was raised in total gifts. 100% of that money goes to student scholarships.

“We are grateful and humbled by the generosity of the Cobber community. It is powerful and inspiring when we unite for a common goal. Together, we are helping ensure a Concordia education is possible for every student.," said Katherine Halvorson, the director of Annual Giving and Engagement in a statement released to WDAY Radio. She adds that nearly every Concordia College student receives financial aid through scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study.

The college offers a number of scholarships based on academic achievement, performing arts, and general student status. Families can learn more by clicking here.
