Fargodome GM: securing financing for long-discussed improvements could prove "challenging"

(Fargo, ND) -- The general manager at the Fargodome is giving an update on efforts aimed at refurbishing the facility.

"So we've been looking at ways to enhance the Fargodome. I believe the City of Fargo, Fargodome Authority, NDSU and Fargodome management have done a great job over the 30 years of keeping up a lot of different things with it as far as some space, technology, the lighting, things such as that," said Rob Sobolik.

Sobolik says he expects the various players involved in operating the Fargodome will have some "pretty interesting conversations" about improvement plans for the event space during the first quarter next year. He says changes could include what he calls "more accessible seating", more "circulation space" to allow greater ease of movement for the public around the building, and more space for security operations. He says arranging possible financing needed for improvements could prove a bit challenging with interest rates climbing. Sobolik says it would be "pretty optimistic" to think that work on the facility would begin sometime in 2023.

"Hopefully we're going to have things figured out here in the very near future," said Sobolik.
