Two arrested after stealing car in Fargo

(Fargo, ND) -- Two men are in custody after crashing a stolen car in Fargo.

The Fargo Police Department tells WDAY Radio that an officer on patrol noticed the vehicle driving next to him had possibly been stolen Thursday, and followed the suspects.

The driver, identified as 37-year-old Jacob Elness, attempted to turn off of Main Avenue but crashed through the median and veered into oncoming traffic before stopping.

The department says that's when a traffic stop was conducted, and the occupants inside the car became eve more uncooperative.

In all five people were initially detained from inside the car. But, only Elness and one passenger, 51-year-old Jeffery Charette were taken to the Cass County Jail.

Elness faces several charges, including Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Driving Under the Influence, Reckless Driving, Possession of Stolen Property and Driving Under Revocation. Charette was arrested for Unlawful Resist of a Police Officer.

This incident came less than a day after three juveniles were caught stealing a car, and were looking to swipe another.
