(Fargo, ND) -- A TSA official is talking about the number of firearms she says were recovered at the security checkpoint at Fargo's Hector International Airport over the past year.

"We had five firearms stopped at the checkpoint here in Fargo. It's a problem nationwide. I think again there are places where people are just kind of used to carrying concealed weapons on them and they forget the rules are much different. It's never allowed at the checkpoint, it's never allowed in the cabin of an aircraft," said TSA spokesperson Jessica Mayle.

Mayle discussed the topic Wednesday while stopped at the airport in Fargo to remind air travelers about which items are allowed in carry-on bags and which ones aren't. The outreach is timed to coincide with the busy travel period during Christmas and New Year's Day. The goal is to keep air travelers moving quickly through airport security. Other prohibited items include knives, tools longer than 7 inches, and liquids and gels in containers larger than 3.4 ounces.
