(Grand Forks, ND) -- Less than a week after the Air Force voiced their disapproval over the $700 million corn milling plant backed by Chinese-owned FuFeng group in Grand Forks, city leaders have taken action.

The City Council voted Monday night to officially nix the project, just months after originally approving work to be done just miles from Grand Forks Air Force Base.

All members of North Dakota's congressional delegation had expressed concern even before the Air Force letter about the proximity to the base, and possible security concerns.

FuFeng still owns the property, but is unclear what the future of the work site will be now that the plant is off the table.
