(Fargo, ND) -- A Moorhead man is being held at the Cass County jail after an initial call for suspicious activity led to a lot more over the weekend in Fargo.

The Fargo Police Department tells WDAY Radio that at 2: 26 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to the call in the 0 block of North Terrace N. When they got to the scene, officers located the suspect vehicle associated with this call traveling southbound on 2nd St. N. and attempted a traffic stop.

The vehicle pulled into the parking lot of a business on the 300 block of Main Ave. and attempted to flee but was blocked in by a snowbank next to the building. That's when officers gave commands to the driver to exit the vehicle while the female passenger was screaming and trying to exit from the blocked-in passenger-side door.

The driver refused to exit the vehicle and claimed to have a gun.

When officers got closer to the vehicle, they saw the driver had the passenger in a chokehold. A Taser was then used to subdue the suspect and rescue the victim.

45-year-old Hector Flores was arrested for Kidnapping, Aggravated Domestic Violence, Felony Preventing Arrest, Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle, Driving Under the Influence and Driving Under Suspension.

The victim was transferred to a local health care facility for her injuries.

No firearm was found on Flores' person or in the vehicle.
