(West Fargo, ND) -- The City of West Fargo is aiming to solve a workforce shortage by addressing a childcare provider shortage.

West Fargo City Leadership says up to $1 million dollars will be used to help daycares with one-time expenditures. This includes fixing essentials, like fencing or property based issues, along with other items necessary for a daycare to stay open. The funds cannot be used for wages or everyday operational costs.

"This childcare workforce grant is something that I have been really passionate about... "said Mandy George, a West Fargo City Commissioner, "It will help licensed daycares stay open, or to be able to open."

The childcare workforce grant will only be available for West Fargo Residents, and is currently online. The amount of funds given to residents will be based on a sliding scale determined by the size of the daycare operation. A West Fargo based daycare who wants to apply for a grant can do so by contacting the city's Economic Development Department by clicking here.
