Proposed North Dakota website could help lower your property tax bill

(Fargo, ND) -- If you think your property taxes are too high you could soon have a new tool to help you make your argument.

"If I can look around and show you three different houses that are like mine and they're paying considerably lower taxes, that's an argument," said Grand Forks republican State Representative Steve Vetter.

Vetter is pushing HB 1225. If passed it would provide more than $400 thousand in state funding to create a website tracking statewide property tax information. Users would be able to compare their own tax bills to other similar properties.

"If you don't have that information at your fingertips it's a little hard to say I'm paying too much taxes," said Vetter.
