Update: Several area schools, cities and businesses closing or delaying openings due to winter storm

(Fargo, ND) -- The the ongoing Winter Storm here in the FM Metro, several area schools have closed for Wednesday.

Fargo, West Fargo and Moorhead schools have all closed for the day, but students must complete an e-learning day in each district.

NDSU and MSUM are also closed to everyone except emergency personnel. All Boys and Girls Clubs of the Red River Valley are also closed.

As for city offices, all non-emergency Fargo offices will be closed Wednesday, including Clinic Fargo Cass Public Health and all three library locations.

Garbage and recycling collection will occur on schedule, however; depending on road conditions, there may be delays in pickup times. Residents scheduled to have their garbage picked up are encouraged to place their bins on the boulevard by 8 a.m. to ensure prompt pick-up. The Fargo Landfill and Household Hazardous Waste Facility will be open regular hours.

As for the city of West Fargo, all city offices and buildings will be closed all day Wednesday. Snowplows have been able to maintain snow emergency routes during the storm, but the current rate of snowfall will prevent them from clearing residential areas until about 11 a.m. All public safety agencies and essential services will be in full operation for the residents of West Fargo. Garbage and recycling collection will proceed according to the normal schedule.

All Cass County Government offices will have a two-hour delayed start Wednesday due to inclement weather. Normal business day operations will begin at 10:00 a.m.
