Senator Kevin Cramer expresses optimism for republican backed legislation and discusses presidential candidates for 2024

(Fargo, ND) -- With republicans now in control of congress, Senator Kevin Cramer is expressing optimism that his party will be able to pass legislation and get it to President Biden's desk.

"I'm all in for Kevin McCarthy and house republicans starting everything there and sending it over to us. It will no doubt be changed. Obviously you know Chuck Schumer is not going to take everything just as Kevin McCarthy sends it. But I do think we have, if we stay disciplined, use regular order, you know like properly use the rules of congress, and frankly good manners, I really believe we can make some changes," said Cramer.

Cramer says if President Biden expects to win re-election, that Biden can't be soft on crime and energy development.

Cramer made the comments while appearing on What's on Your Mind on AM 1100 The Flag.

A listener asked the senator who he would support for the republican nomination for president in 2024.

Cramer did not specifically name one candidate.

"If you want to know sort of my pick, I'd like to see DeSantis get in. I'd like to see Pompeo get in. You obviously already have Nikki Haley, Donald Trump and maybe one or two others. Maybe Mike Pence, but I think at the end of the day it comes down to Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis if they're both into it and I think that would be a wonderful matchup," said Cramer.
