(Thompson, ND) -- A man is in custody after authorities say he stole a truck from a home in Thompson early Wednesday.
The Grand Forks County Sheriff's Office tells WDAY Radio a deputy was on patrol in rural Thompson searching for the stolen Chevy Silverado when it was found headed north on a rural road topping speeds of 70 miles per hour.
The driver, 18-year-old Dominick Eley, blew through a pair of stop signs before crashing into a snow bank near the intersection of Morrison Street and Highway 15. He was then placed under arrest and faces charges of Theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing in a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment and refusal to halt. Eley is being held in the Grand Forks County Correctional Center.
A juvenile passenger was also charged with refusal to halt.
