(Fargo, ND) --  A male is receiving a mental health evaluation following an evacuation of a downtown Fargo business this evening.

The Fargo Police Department says they responded to reports of a man "pacing around the back of a business" in the 200 block of Broadway at 4:40 p.m. Staff and patrols at a nearby business say the pacing man possibly had a gun on him, evacuated from the building. The officers established a perimeter on the scene shortly afterwards.

Police say with the help of nearby businesses, the officers were able to access a hallway and observe the male from a safe distance. That is when the male exited the building on the west side of the business, meeting several Fargo Police Officers in the process. The male followed verbal directions from the officers, and was taken into custody. First responders say there is no active threat to the business following a search of the property, who say no firearm was found on the person or the location.

The male was evaluated by paramedics for believed mental health issues, and was eventually taken to a nearby hospital for a mental health evaluation. No charges were filed.
