(Detroit Lakes, MN) -- An East Grand Forks man is behind bars after leading Becker County Sheriff's Deputies on a high-speed chase Tuesday.

Authorities tell WDAY Radio that at 4:24 p.m. a state trooper asked for assistance after clocking the suspect driving over 100 miles per hour just west of Frazee on County Highway 10. After being found, the driver, now identified as 20-year-old Bobby James Newborn, continued to flee from law enforcement until stop stick were used near the intersection of County highway 54 and U.S. Highway 10.

Newborn drove through the first round of stop sticks before a second round was used by Detroit Lakes Police at the overpass of Highway 10 and Roosevelt Avenue. After also driving through that attempted stop, the chase was called off until Newborn was located again west of U.S. Highway 59 and Highway 10, where he then went into a ditch and surrendered.

Newborn faces several charges, including fleeing a police officer, felony possession of marijuana and other outstanding warrants. He is being held at the Becker County Jail.

The incident remains under investigation.
